ZCCM-IH Senior Leadership Visits Site – Construction Accelerates to Build Zambia’s Agricultural Future

Chilanga, Zambia – Sino Great Chemical recently welcomed a high-level delegation from ZCCM-IH, the joint venture partner and major investor in its phosphate fertilizer plant project in Chilanga. The delegation was led by ZCCM-IH Board Chairman Mr. Phesto Musonda, Chief Executive Officer Mr. Kakenenwa Muyangwa, and senior management. The visit served not only as a routine progress review but also as a strong testament to the deepening strategic partnership and shared commitment to delivering a world-class project.

Currently, the project has reached 30% completion, with all construction activities advancing according to schedule. The plant is on track to commence trial production in August 2027. As a flagship initiative for Zambia’s domestic fertilizer industry, the project has carried high expectations from the outset – to enhance agricultural self-sufficiency, drive industrialisation, and reduce dependency on imported fertilisers. Once fully operational, the integrated production base will significantly boost local fertiliser capacity, promote value addition from domestic mineral resources, and generate over 1,600 direct jobs for the local community.
